Freelance Senior AWS Architect

Introduction

We are looking for a senior AWS architect with experience in event-driven architecture for a client with a large in-house development organization. You will design the solution, help build it hands-on, and ensure that the team can then continue the work independently.

Organization

The client is a large Dutch organization where many development teams build on AWS. The integration landscape is being modernized so that teams can connect systems more easily and independently.

You’ll be working in a team of engineers and analysts that provides internal services to other development teams. The team has extensive knowledge of backend and cloud technologies, but has limited experience with large-scale event-driven systems on AWS. That’s where you’ll bring your unique value.

Job Information

You take an architectural vision and turn it into a concrete implementation design, which you build together with the team. You clarify technical considerations and document them. You provide substantive guidance, but the team retains ownership.

Core Responsibilities:

• Designing and Implementing an Event-Driven Integration Solution on AWS
• Ensure that the solution scales with a rapidly increasing number of connected teams and integrations
• Get hands-on experience building infrastructure and reusable components
• Allow teams to sign up on their own via self-service
• Coaching Engineers on AWS Best Practices
• Establishing architectural choices, standards, and guidelines
• Coordinating with architects, product management, and the client teams
• Result of the assignment:
• A scalable eventing solution that is in production
• Standards for event-driven development used by the organization
• A team that independently manages and further develops the solution

Job Requirements

• Extensive experience as a software or cloud architect at the senior or lead level
• In-depth knowledge of AWS, particularly serverless and messaging services
• Proven experience with event-driven architecture: event modeling, schema management, reliable delivery
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code on AWS
• Experience coaching engineers and engaging stakeholders
• Fluent Dutch
