Freelance Azure DevOps Engineer

Introduction

We are looking for an experienced Azure DevOps Platform Engineer for a large organization in the Randstad. You will manage the Azure DevOps platform that hundreds of in-house developers use every day, and you will ensure it remains stable, secure, and well-supported.

Organization

You work for an organization with business-critical processes that run 24/7. The IT department is large and well-established, and development teams expect their tools to be just as reliable as production systems.

You'll be joining a platform team that manages, supports, and improves the internal development platforms. The team uses Kanban and divides its time between operational support, customer requests, and ensuring the platform remains reliable.

The organization is currently building a future platform on GitHub Enterprise. Your focus will be on the current Azure DevOps environment, but you’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to the new environment.

Job Information

You are the point of contact for internal users of Azure DevOps and its associated tools. Most of your time is spent on administration, support, and service reliability. The rest is devoted to automation, platform improvements, and initiatives related to GitHub Enterprise.

Core Responsibilities:

• Provide operational support and advice to internal clients on Azure DevOps and related tools
• Ensuring the availability, reliability, and day-to-day operation of the platform
• Analyze and resolve incidents, user issues, and service requests
• Implement lifecycle management: upgrades, access control, configuration, maintenance, and integrations
• Automating Management with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
• Contributing to improvements and engineering work within GitHub Enterprise
• Participate in the on-call/standby service for 24/7 support

Job Requirements

• Completed higher professional education (HBO) program or demonstrable HBO-level work experience and thinking skills
• Experience managing and supporting Azure DevOps in an enterprise environment
• Experience with Microsoft Azure services
• Practical experience with Terraform
• Experience in platform operations, SRE, or platform engineering
• Strongly customer-focused and a good communicator
• Willing to participate in on-call duty
