Head of IT

Introduction

A financial services provider is seeking an experienced Head of IT. You will consolidate the IT environments of recently acquired organizations and modernize the IT landscape. You will have ultimate responsibility for the IT department and ensure that the foundation is in place for the next phase of growth.

Organization

The organization has grown rapidly through acquisitions. As a result, multiple IT environments, processes, and vendors are now operating side by side. These must be consolidated into a single, manageable organization without compromising the services provided to customers.

Even setting aside the issue of integration, the IT landscape is in need of an overhaul. Consider outdated infrastructure, fragmented applications and contracts, and management that relies too heavily on individual expertise. Senior management views IT as a prerequisite for further growth and expects a Head of IT who can provide direction and also dive deep into the details.

You’ll be working in an environment where reliability, information security, and compliance are top priorities. The reporting lines are short, and you’ll report directly to senior management.

Job Information

You lead an IT team consisting of internal staff and external partners. You divide your time between strategy, management, and the actual implementation of the integration. You make decisions regarding platforms, vendors, and organizational structure, and you ensure that those decisions are carried out.

Core Responsibilities:

• Develop an IT strategy and roadmap for the integration and modernization of the IT landscape
• Managing Migration and Consolidation: Infrastructure, Workstations, Identity, Network, and Applications
• Manage the IT team and set up the new IT organization (roles, processes, management model)
• Streamline and Restructure Suppliers and Contracts
• Ensuring Information Security, Business Continuity, and Compliance During and After the Transition
• Report to senior management on progress, risks, and the budget

Result of the assignment:

• A single integrated IT environment and a single IT organization
• A defined roadmap for the renewal, with the first steps already taken
• A supplier portfolio that is well-organized and manageable
• A management model that does not depend on a single person

Job Requirements

• Proven experience as Head of IT
• Experience with at least one similar integration project following a merger or acquisition (IT carve-in/carve-out, consolidation)
• Experience with modernizing an IT landscape, such as a transition to the cloud (Azure/Microsoft 365) and application modernization
• Experience managing teams and external vendors
• Knowledge of information security and IT risk management in a regulated environment
• Effective communication with management and stakeholders, in Dutch and English
• Willing to work on-site 3 to 4 days a week

Pros

• Experience in the financial services industry
• Knowledge of DORA and/or ISO 27001
• Experience with ITIL processes and setting up a management organization
• Willing to transition to a permanent position after the assignment

Offer

• Start date: to be determined, preferably as soon as possible
• Duration: at least 6 months, with the possibility of extension
• Hours: 36–40 hours per week
• 3 to 4 days a week in the office
• Contract: freelance/self-employed. The client prefers to offer a permanent position in the future. If you are open to transitioning to a permanent position after this assignment, that would be preferred.
