Freelance Product Owner / Business Analyst for Transformation

Introduction

I am looking for an experienced freelance Product Owner with a strong background in business analysis for a service-oriented organization with multiple locations in the Netherlands. In this role, you will be responsible for a broad operational transformation and will engage directly with the business, lead workshops, and systematically map out the target processes.

Organization

A business services organization that is actively working to further digitize, standardize, and automate its operational processes. The organization is already operating based on the "happy flow" approach; the next step is to evolve toward truly structured target processes, in which the system and work methods go hand in hand.

The organization operates from multiple locations in the Netherlands. Several improvement and change initiatives are underway simultaneously, while day-to-day operations continue uninterrupted. The role specifically calls for someone who goes beyond managing projects from the sidelines—you’ll be closely involved with the business, facilitating workshops, and guiding people toward the desired way of working.

Job Information

You lead both in terms of content and people. You’re systematic and “blue-collar” when it comes to designing processes, but communicative and collaborative with the users you’re guiding through the change. You take people out of their comfort zones and guide them toward the new way of working, while at the same time figuring out what’s needed from a systems perspective to support that approach.

Work includes, among other things:

• Ownership of the transformation roadmap: setting priorities, ensuring coherence, and guiding progress
• Facilitating workshops and working sessions with business representatives, users, and stakeholders
• Systematic mapping of current processes and desired target processes
• Analyze the system requirements needed to support the target processes
• Translating business needs into concrete functional requirements and system specifications
• Guiding users and teams through the transition to new processes
• Collaborating with IT and development teams to ensure that solutions are actually implemented
• Report to senior management on progress, risks, and results
• Actively ensuring that the desired change is actually implemented in behavior and work practices

Job Requirements

• Proven experience as a Product Owner and several years of experience as a Business Analyst
• Experience with IT and application development projects
• Skilled at facilitating workshops and user interviews
• Systematic and structured in the design of processes
• Change-oriented: able to get people out of their comfort zones and help them adopt new ways of working
• Strong communication skills, with an eye for both content and the human side of things
• Experience with agile working and stakeholder management at the executive and management team levels
• HBO/WO level of work and thinking
