F5 Network Engineer

Introduction

We are looking for a Network Engineer with F5 specialization for a large organization with a mission-critical IT infrastructure. You will manage and develop the application and security infrastructure related to load balancing and WAF, and further automate these processes using Ansible.

Organization

The organization has a large and diverse application landscape. Many internal users and customers rely on it on a daily basis, so availability, performance, and security are critical.

You’ll be joining a network team responsible for the network and application delivery infrastructure. The team wants to reduce manual work and manage more through code, so it’s increasingly focusing on automation and cloud-based security services.

The team operates out of multiple locations. You’ll work in a hybrid model, with the option to work from home and set times in the office for meetings and collaboration.

Job Information

You are the team's F5 specialist. You design, build, and manage load-balancing and WAF solutions, both on-premises and via F5 Distributed Cloud. You automate manual tasks and share your knowledge with colleagues.

Core Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and manage F5 environments (BIG-IP and F5 Distributed Cloud)
• Configuring and optimizing load balancing, SSL offloading, WAF policies, and DNS/GSLB
• Automating Changes and Management with Ansible (playbooks, roles, version control in Git)
• Application teams provide guidance on the secure and scalable deployment of their applications
• Analyzing and resolving complex network and application issues (third-line support)
• Develop and maintain documentation, standards, and best practices
• Contribute ideas on the ongoing development of the network and security landscape

• A stable, secure, and well-documented F5 environment
• Fewer manual changes thanks to structural automation with Ansible
• A Mature Implementation of F5 Distributed Cloud Within the Application Landscape

Job Requirements

• At least a higher vocational education (HBO) level of work and thinking
• Several years of experience as a Network Engineer with a proven specialization in F5 (BIG-IP: LTM, ASM/Advanced WAF, and/or DNS)
• Experience with F5 Distributed Cloud, or a demonstrated affinity for cloud-based WAF/WAAP solutions
• Experience with Ansible for network automation
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, SSL/TLS, HTTP, and routing & switching
• Proficiency in spoken and written Dutch
• Willing to travel to another location from time to time

Pros

• F5 certifications (such as F5-CA or F5-CTS)
