Freelance Geo Data Consultant / Functional Administrator
Introduction
For a leading organization within the energy sector, we are looking for a Geo Data Consultant / Functional Administrator (FME). In this role you will form the bridge between users, data and technology. You will ensure that geographic information systems are optimally aligned with business processes and contribute to the digital transformation of the organization.
Organization
You will work within an innovative and multidisciplinary GeoTeam responsible for the development and management of GIS and FME solutions. The organization is in the middle of the energy transition and is investing heavily in data-driven work, Digital Twins and AI solutions. Together with colleagues from IT, operations and asset management, you will work on the digital infrastructure that keeps the Netherlands and northern Germany energy secure.
Job Information
As a Geo Data Consultant, you translate spatial issues into concrete data solutions. You analyze information requests, select data sources and deliver results in the form of datasets, maps or web applications. You will work with tools such as FME Desktop/Server, ArcGIS Pro and QGIS.
In addition to your data consulting tasks, you also perform functional management on FME applications. You will identify bottlenecks, supervise changes, propose improvements and ensure that users are optimally supported. You provide training, create manuals and actively participate in innovation projects within the GIS domain.
Responsibilities
- Register, analyze and resolve spatial data requests.
- Translate user requirements into functional and technical specifications.
- Functional management and optimization of FME processes.
- Support users through instructions, training and documentation.
- Preparation of reports and data analysis to support decision making.
- Collaborate with business analysts, developers and project leaders within Agile/Scrum teams.
Job Requirements
- HBO/WO working and thinking level with at least 5 years of experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of GIS and experience within an engineering or utility environment.
- Extensive experience with FME Desktop and preferably FME Server.
- Familiar with ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, Oracle and MS SQL (including SQL queries).
- Strong communication skills and experience in stakeholder management.
- Analytically strong, with the ability to quickly understand business processes.
- Affinity for innovation, data and digital transformation within the energy sector.
Offer
- Start: December 1, 2025
- Duration: until June 30, 2026, with option for extension
- Deployment: 32 - 40 hours per week
