Freelance Information Security Officer

Introduction

For an educational institution I am looking for a Freelance Information Security Officer. You will work on a strategic IT program aimed at strengthening information security and compliance, optimizing and securing processes, documentation and systems according to the SURF standards framework and CMM3 guidelines.

Organization

This educational institution plays a key role in providing high quality education and research. Based in Enschede (hybrid working possible), you will work in the Functional Management team together with internal stakeholders and IT specialists to professionalize information security processes and make them compliant with national and international standards.

Job Information

As an Information Security Officer, you are responsible for analyzing existing documentation and processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing solutions. You will perform fit-gap analysis, optimize policies and processes, and advise management on risks and appropriate measures.

Core of the role:

• Perform fit-gap analyses of existing documentation and practices
• Structure, update and optimize information security documentation and policies
• Implement improvements in processes and systems
• Optimizing resource management and information security measures
• Collaborate with internal teams for better integration and alignment
• Prepare and supervise internal and external audits
• Advise on risks and measures, and report to relevant stakeholders

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role within IT or information security
• Demonstrable knowledge of the SURF standards framework and/or ISO27001
• Experience with fit-gap analysis, process optimization and documentation management
• Experience within an educational organization is a plus
• Strong communication skills and operate independently
• Proactive, structured and analytical
• Good command of the Dutch language both verbally and in writing
